“Four years ago, Nathan (from S&R) and I met over a non-functioning A/C unit. The system was technologically “old” but did not seem that old to me. The news was not good… the system was low on freon, the type of freon it used had been phased out and was in limited supply and was subsequently very expensive, and due to environmental concerns, a homeowner could only obtain a one-time refill, so if it leaked out, the money spent would be wasted and the system would still require replacement. After lengthy discussion with Nathan, I decided to “roll the dice” and try the refill. I was impressed by Nathan’s ability to deliver the truth, knowing I would be unhappy hearing it, as well as how he walked me through the process of deciding what to do. Somewhere in there, I decided that when our system needed upgrading, I would give Nathan and S&R first shot at the job. The system functioned well until a few days ago (4 years after the refill). Two days ago, I called Nathan, who promptly showed up, diagnosed the problem, and we decided to replace the entire HVAC system. Today, Alex, Mike, Jim, and David showed up at 8:00 a.m. and we had a well-installed, quality HVAC system cooling the house before 3:00 p.m. Nathan even dropped by for a quick survey of the situation. Every person on the team was personable, knowledgeable, and a pleasure to interact with. They treated our property with respect, were proactive in their approach, explained things thoroughly, and were very professional. During the installation I had the opportunity to ask each of them multiple questions about all aspects of the systems, old and new. At first, I felt guilty bouncing questions off individuals which might be outside their field of expertise but that gave way to amazement at the fact that each of them seemed well versed on every aspect of the systems involved, demonstrating true interest and involvement in what they did. Observing them, I came to appreciate how cross-trained expertise contributed to their functioning as an effective team. Making the decision to replace a “working” furnace was a difficult one but it turned out that the heat exchanger had multiple cracks which could potentially leak CO into our home. The newer technology is more efficient, has a smaller footprint, and, given it was installed as a complete system, it integrates perfectly. I do not know if S&R was the cheapest option as I did not bother to check. I was not looking for cheap … I was looking for a trustworthy, local, quality team I respected and felt comfortable with. Again, Jim, Dave, Mike, Alex, and Nathan, thanks a bunch for our new system and a positive experience!”

“I utilized another companies service for a free HVAC tune up, figured what the heck its been a few years. Not only did that other company attempt to sell me on $5,000+ on parts repair, they told me that those parts were a month on back order, so they recommended I purchase a brand new furnace and AC. Worst news yet, they RED TAGGED my furnace, shutting it down saying it had to be repaired before turning it back on. Well none of this was sitting right with me and so I had to put my tail between my legs and give S&R a call and explain what was going on. The reason for the tail tuck? I’ve used S&R for my garage heater, washer, dryer, and water heater, so I felt stupid that they weren’t doing my annual maintenance. Scott and his team has always been good to me, what was I thinking?… Anyways, I call and they get someone out to me right away and explained the diagnostic testing they use to determine if a unit is starting to go bad or not and it helps them start their diagnosis. When the tech shows up, we discussed how the part that the other company red tagged me for is actually under the 20 year warranty from Bryant, so we’ll have options no matter what the test shows. Regardless though, before getting into that, we need to do some test, okay. So, they ran a carbon monoxide test and explained to me how the numbers work to ‘red’ tag something. A normal furnace operation omits 0-100 ppm (parts per million) of co2. A Yellow tagged furnace operates at 100-400 ppm showing it needs repairs and a Red tagged furnace operates at 400+ppm. After explaining everything, he ran the test with me watching and it came back at 20. He then looked over the furnace and had his own opinion on the unit, with his experience believed that it still have a solid 3-5 years at least left of life. Thank you S&R for being honest and professional. I deserved this horrible day by not utilizing your services to begin with, and I didn’t deserve what you always do, show up on time, communicate well, and take care of the customer like it was your own family. Never again will I stray, and I hope this review reaches everyone in our area so you can have a chance to save their day too. Thank you again.”
